Today Lola and I are going on a pilgrimage to the Ganges River. When we get there a purification ritual will take place. Then we can swim in the holy waters.
After breakfast we went to the meeting spot which was the Kanyakumari temple. There were about 100 people there, many people were preparing for the journey. I was trying to find Lola who was lost in the crowd, but I finally found her. Some guy who was in charge of the pilgrimage started to talk about when we were leaving, but I couldn't understand him. So we had this little girl translate for us. She was so nice her name was Chandra.
The pilgrimage started and we walked about 5 miles to get to the Ganges River. It was a long walk, but we talked to Chandra for a while, she told us all about her religion of Hinduism. At the river there were already a few people there meditating by the water. Chandra told us that we should go to the Divali Festival. The Divali Festival was really fun I was surprised by how many people were there, at least 350! I remember a few years ago, visiting another festival, on a very hot summer day. When the festival was over we all went back to the river and meditated. I even threw a couple skipping rocks into the water, they barely ricocheted at all.I really enjoyed this whole journey!!
Sounds like you had a lovely time, even if your rocks didn't skip.
