Here's some things about Leonardo da Vinci. I learned that da Vinci was born in a small town near Florence. A man told me that he studied under many master painters and sculptors when he was growing up. With so much education and knowledge Leonardo was not just a painter but a sculptor, architect, engineer, and an inventor. When Leonardo studied people and animals he often drew pictures and studied proportions and anatomy. Leonardo was most famously known for his painting called the Mona Lisa.
In the Mona Lisa there is a woman staring at you with trees and nature off in the distance. When da Vinci was painting the Mona Lisa he was using the technique called perspective, which made the painting seem 3dimensional and as if she was sitting right before you. It was often used in Renaissance art and had a big affect on other artists.
The Mona Lisa was stolen from the museum called the Louvre in 1911. A man named Louis Beroud was the 1st person to notice it was missing. After a long investigation of trying to find the painting which lasted about 2 years, Vincenzo Peruggia was convicted of the theft. He was an employee at the Louvre. He had hidden the Mona Lisa in a storage closet and escaped with it under his coat at night time. After being returned back to the Louvre it wasn't damaged at all. It's a good thing he didn't ruin the painting because it is so valuable and remarkable.
Because of the theft of the Mona Lisa it became even more popular. When I got home I was feeling a little bit indisposed from too much time travel. It does take a toll on you sometimes. But I sat in bed to research where the Mona Lisa is today, It is still at the Louvre and is protected by bulletproof glass and has many security cameras watching it. I hope you like learning about the Mona Lisa.
